BENNETT, JO " BABE " BARNES, 94, of Louisville, passed away Monday, February 5, 2007. She retired from Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home after 24 years of service as the office manager. She was a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was also a member of the Rosary Club and was active with the Deacon's Wives Association. She also enjoyed square dancing very much and was an avid poker player. Babe was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Deacon James D. Bennett Sr., a daughter, Mary Jo and a brother, Bob Barnes who passed away on the same day. She is survived by two sons, James D. Jr. (Phyllis) and Thomas J. Sr. (Mary Dennis); one daughter, Martha Ann Cubbage (Roger); 12 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Brown; sister in-law, Joan K. Barnes, a brother in-law, William Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews; and great- and great-great nieces and nephews. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Martha's Catholic Church, with internment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Rd. Memorial gifts may be made to Mass of the Air or the Crusade for Children. The family would like to thank the staff at Christopher East for the excellent care of their mother.
