A member of Parker's Battery of Artillery the Army of Northern Virginia. A printer from an early age, pre-war he was employed by the Richmond Dispatch. During the war, he was detailed to assist in the printing of the Confederate five-cent stamp. In 1864, he helped repulse the raid of Ulrich Dahlgren. Post-war he continued in the printing business.
