Appomattox: Virginia Chick Beard, 93 of Pumping Station Road, died Tuesday morning, January 16, 2007 in the Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Henry Myers Beard. Born in Appomattox County, December 26, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Erwin Lee and Ruby Drinkard Chick. Virginia was a member of Hebron Baptist Church and a retired librarian with the Appomattox School system. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence Myers and Barbara Beard of Chambersburg, PA; many nieces and nephews including Janet Morley of Leesburg, Cynthia Padgett of Jacksonville, FL, and Dorothy Layne of Appomattox; great nieces and nephews include Stephanie Padgett of Jacksonville FL, Wanda H. Mann, Tommy Harden, Patricia Harden, and Mary Kathern Harden all of Appomattox. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel May. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, January 18, 2006 in Hebron Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Walker. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
