Daniel S. Buttram was born about 1852 in Indiana. He is the son of Daniel Buttram and Amanda Stites Buttram. He came to Wright County with his brother James M. Buttram. Family lore is that Daniel and James did not get along with their step mother and ran away together when they were young. He married Catherine Dunn before 1872, probably in Wright County. They had 6 children: John L., Solomon S., Benjamin W., Dora Mae, Mary Elizabeth, and Calvin M.. Daniel died Oct 27, 1912, in Wright County, Missouri.
