Georgiana was the daughter of William Augustus & Annie (Smith) Ackerson.

Her mother, Annie died in 1874 and her father, William, died in 1876.
This left Georgiana, an orphan, to being raised by her maternal grandparents, Jacob and Sarah Smith, in Tarrytown, New York.

In 1889 Georgiana married, Charles Vanderbilt, a widower with 4 children. She raised them in a loving home as her own.

They lived a wonderful life in Tarrytown. Charles was the owner of the Vanderbilt Funeral home. She was a very active member of the Second Reform Church of Tarrytown, were they have a stained glass window in the church given in their memory by their children.


Georgiana and Charles had one child:
Florence Anna Vanderbilt
