Pauline Bailey, 63, of Vansant, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007 following an extended illness. Born Feb. 3, 1943 in Tazewell County, Va., she was the daughter of the late George and Julia Messer. She was a 1961 graduate of Garden High School and was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin sister, Ernestine Messer; one other sister, Ava Nell Dotson; and one infant daughter, Debbie Jean Bailey. She is survived by two sons, Rod Bailey and wife Diana of Vansant and Tim Bailey and wife Sheryl of Rowe, Va.; two grandsons, Jarrod Bailey and Jamie Bailey; one granddaughter, AshLee Bailey; one great grandson, Benjamin Bailey; four brothers, Carter Messer of Richlands, Va., George (Junior) Messer Jr. of Rowe, Charles (Chuck) Messer of Mesquite, Texas and Jimmy Messer and wife Mary of Dallas, N.C.; three sisters, Betty Stiltner of Richlands, Bonnie Halton and husband Joseph of Rochester, N.Y. and Gladys Hill and husband Donald of Vansant; special friend, Jim Brown; Goddaughter, Mackenzie Coleman and special friend, Reba Pruitt. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (today), Jan. 27, 2007 at Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel at Keen Mountain, Va. with Pastor Mike Rife officiating. Burial followed in the Ketron Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon, Va. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
