Orianna Cerne was the only daughter of my great-great uncle Giorgio Cerne and his wife Luigia. She was my grat-grandmother Giorgia's niece.
I never met Orianna but I saw photos of her, she was at my grandparents' wedding reception and the date when the photos were taken was in 1950. She did not look older than 4 or 5 years old from what I could guess looking at her. She struck me immediately as angelic when I first saw the two photos. So precious with her long blonde hair. Just like a little angel. From what I am told she went on to have a very rough life. I am told that she was showing signs of something needing medical intervention. Her parents just refused to hear family members when they tried to tell them Orianna might need to go see a doctor. From what I understand she must have had some developmental delays or something along those lines. Not sure what these family members saw but I suppose her parents either did not see what the others were noticing, maybe to them Orianna was just perfect. I don't know and I hate to bring it up since it saddens me to think that pretty little girl went to have a life where she was taken advantage of. She never married and I don't know if she worked and I don't even know if she had her own place or lived somewhere. It seems as her age progressed the signs that were there in childhood grew worse. She died of heart disease (which was attributed to diabetes). She was 54 years old. She died about three years ago in the city of Trieste where she was also born. The information came from my great-aunt who did not have much contact with Orianna. I think it was just the way Orianna led her life. She was not connected to our family so they only know limited information of her last years.
She now joins her parents and many other family members.
