Funeral services for Jesse James Burton, 76, of Reynoldsburg Road are scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ridgeway Morticians with a Navy chaplain officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burton died early this morning, Aug. 12, 1993, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A member of Fairview Baptist Church, Burton was a retired Navy master chief who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was born May 30, 1917, in Paris to the late L. C. and Sally Coleman Burton. On May 6, 1947, he married the former Lucille Edgar, who survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Janice Caldwell and Pat Loines, both of Paris, Norma Crews of Jackson and Tammie Key of Murfreesboro; a son, James K. Burton of Nashville; two sisters, Myrtice Nichols of Paris and Mable Singleton of Memphis; a brother, Elbert Burton of West Memphis, Ark.; and nine grandchildren.
Three other sisters preceded him in death: Laura Burton, Lottie Taylor and Lou Fitzpatrick.
