Age 90, passed away on Sunday January 1, 2017 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was born on September 22, 1926 In Willmar, Minnesota to Harold and Mabel Johnson. She was the oldest of 6 children. Allene grew up in rural Raymond, Minnesota and attended school there. She continued her education at The School of Agriculture at the University of Minnesota where she received her Post Graduate Certificate in 1946. Upon graduation, she became a 4-H leader in Benson, Minnesota and later worked at JC Penney in Willmar, Minnesota. Allene married Kenneth Hookom on January 21, 1949 and started their family in Willmar, Minnesota.
She was president of the Women's Society, active in UMW and Sunday School Superintendent, the Boy Scouts of America; where she received the Silver Fawn Award; Eden Prairie's Historical Society, Art in Eden Prairie, PROP (People Reaching out to Other People) and Meals on Wheels. Her biggest accomplishment was the over 319 donations of blood and palettes she donated. Allene was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth; brothers Allen Johnson, Daryl Johnson; sister Arlys Molenaar.
