He was born in Waterville, was educated in Minot schools, and graduated from Edward Little High School of Auburn in 1960.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964, attaining the grade of Airman 2nd Class. Following his career in the Air Force, George married his wife of 37 years, Connie G. Murdock on March 7, 1969, in North Auburn.
He worked many years in Local 305, Sheet Metal Workers Union, retiring in 1987 due to work-related injuries.
He loved working outdoors, enjoyed hunting, was a fan of NASCAR, and took great pleasure spending time with his family, especially his three grandsons.
He was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church.
Besides his wife of Parsonsfield, he is survived by a daughter, Jennifer E. Slocum and her husband Josh, of Sebago; a son, George C. Cyr of Parsonsfield; grandsons, Brandon, Ryan and TJ; and extended family and close friends.
