US Marine PFC John Lee Coleman, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Charlotte, NC.

US Marine PFC John Lee Coleman was a member of the Marine Corps, PFC Coleman served our country until April 21st, 1968 in Quang Tri, South Vietnam. He was 18 years old and was not married. John died when the enemy blew up the ammo he was loading. His body was recovered. PFC Coleman is on panel 51E, line 017 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

James had been married to Veronica L Coleman and they had a daughter by the name of Michelle L Coleman. They were divorced before James went to Vietnam.
James was survived by his mother, Jean Ann Pierson Toler and his sister, Jo Bell of Indianapolis, IN. His father, John W Coleman of
Phoenix, AZ and his grandmother, Arrvill F Lancaster of Charlotte, NC

John L Coleman, my dearest(Buddy) baby brother. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of you. It is the wound that never heals. I gave your medals to my oldest girl. She has them framed and hanging in her house. You have two nephews. They know you by the stories we tell them about you. You will never die to our family-we love you so-if anyone who reads this wants to talk, please e-mail me. Jo Bell.

PFC Coleman was killed during Operation Scotland II on the South Slope of Hill 689.5 kilometers West of Khe Sanh.-Tony


He served with Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd MAF.

He was awarded The Combat Action Ribbon(CAR), The Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, The Purple Heart Medal for his Combat Related Wounds. The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
