Death came Saturday night at 9 o'clock to A.e. Atwood, 70, retired railroad man, who had been a resident of Greenville for several years. A blood clot which followed the amputation of a leg a week ago was attributed as the cause of his death.

Final rites were observed at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon. Services were held at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. C.B. Jackson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Forest Park cemetery.

Pallbearers were: W.O. Smithers, Bill Molen, Claude Hickman, Forrest Geesey, Winton Fowler and J.S. Gist.

A native of Missouri, Mr. Atwood was born on December 12, 1871, and had made his home in Texas since he was a young man. For many years he resided at Marshall where he was an employe of the T&P railroad, and since his retirement several years ago had made his home here. He was widely known in railroad circles and had numerous friends who will be saddened because of his death.

Mr. Atwood was a conscientious Christian and was reared in the Baptist church.

He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Bessie Willard of Winnsboro, who he married on April 3, 1910, and three children, Mrs. Joe Portwood of Fort Worth, Joan Atwood of Greenville, and Private A.E. Atwood, Jr., of Shepherd Field, Texas, and a brother, Arthur Atwood of Wellington, Texas.
