Daniels was born in Wayne Co., PA the son of Amasa and Olive Daniels. He died of "Hemorrhage of Stomach" in Baltimore, MD. Howard Daniels was an architect of the fine old stone Court House at Dayton, Ohio that was built between 1848 - 1850. Plans that are preserved in the British Museum in London. Six imposing Ionic columns on the front, it remains an outstanding example of Greek Revival architecture in Ohio. He was also the landscape architect for Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio. Laurel Hill (1836) in Philadelphia, Green-Wood Cemetery (1838) in New York City, Woodland Cemetery, Cleveland (1850 - 1874) and Spring Grove Cemetery (1845) in Cincinnati. Daniels was a practicing architect in Dayton, Ohio between 1848 - 1850. He also designed the caretaker's house which is still standing and Llewellyn Park a gated suburban community in New Jersey that bills itself as "the First Planned Community In America." Dale Cemetery "incorporated in 1851", Ossining, NY was designed by Daniels who was a runner-up to design Central Park in New York City. Daniels is interred on the Hannibal H. Kimball lot in Green Lawn. At present there is no connection between Daniels and the Kimball family.
