Doyle L. Grant, 79, of Nantahala near Topton died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at his residence.
A native of Macon County where he lived most of his life, he was the son of the late Lonnie L. and Ella Kilpatrick Grant.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He retired after 20 years from Baker Furniture Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Briartown Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mildred Morgan Grant; a daughter, Vivian Douthit of Topton; a son, Steve Grant of Waynesville; three brothers, John Grant and Allen Grant, both of Lenoir, and Neal Grant of Marble; one grandson and four great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 5-6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Ivie Funeral Home in Andrews prior to the services.
Funeral services were at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, with the Revs. Marlin McMahan and Eugene Taylor officiating. Burial was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, in Briartown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shane Gregory, Barry
Fuller, Gerald Dills, Doug Bryant, Alan Bolick and Sidney May.
