Daughter of William Devey and Ann Beven. She emigrated to America at about age 14. On 10 April 1876 at age 16 she married George Mason Adams in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they reared 10 children: Martha Louisa, George William, Edward Franklin, Maggie Myrtle, David Henry, Fanny Dicy, Flossie Henrietta, Minnie Rose, Katie Pearl and Fred Lindsay.
