George was the 3rd of 10 children Frederick Yaryan and Mary Freshour. He married August 31, 1828, in Union County, Indiana, to Rebecca Bailey, daughter of Fred Bailey and Mary Gosnell. She was born March 12, 1810, in Kentucky, and died August 21, 1900, in Fortville, Indiana. Their children were all born in Union County, Indiana.

Thomas was living at home with his parents in Fall Creek Township, Hamilton County, Indiana, in the 1850 census, and in Dahlonega Township, Wapello County, Iowa, in the 1860 census.
Thomas enlisted during the Civil War and served in the 10th Independent Battery, Wisconsin Light Artillery. He became a prisoner of war and died of starvation in South Carolina. His mother received a pension for his service.
