Clyde A. Barnett, 88, of Earlham, died of cancer at the Madison County Hospital, Winterset, on January 19, 1995.

The son of Bert and Effie Barnett, he was born November 27, 1906 on a farm in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. The family moved to the Bear Creek area when he was 1 1/2. He graduated from Earlham High School in 1926.

On June 13, 1931, he was united in marriage to Bernice Mapes in Rock Island, Illinois. They had one son, Gerald A. Barnett. Throughout their married life they lived in the Bear Creek neighborhood where Mr. Barnett continued farming until his retirement.

Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his wife, son and parents. He is survived by a brother, WIllard, and a sister, Maudie Applegate, both of Earlham; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
