KERNERSVILLE, NC ~ Mrs. Helen Lillian "Kitty" Weaver Raye, 70, has gone to be with the Lord. She passed away Feb. 4, 2002, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

She was born March 26, 1931, in Forsyth County to Walter Hartman and Maggie Weaver.

After a 12-year battle with cancer, Kitty has gone on to a better place. Not once did her family and friends hear her complain. "I'm doing great," was her only reply. That was her courageous spirit. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She never met a stranger. She had many talents and was an expert doll maker, member of the former Countryside Cloggers and a member of the Healthy Lifestyles. Mrs. Raye had retired from Amp Inc. with 25 years of service and after her retirement she was a volunteer for the Crisis Control Ministries and she enjoyed hanging out with the girls on regular trips to Myrtle Beach.

Surviving are her husband, Junior Raye of the home; three daughters,; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by Pastor Wally Yarbrough and Pastor H.A. Lewis. Burial will follow at Enterprise Moravian Graveyard.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
