Perle B. Brey, 96, of Sparta, died Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta, with family by her side. She was born on November 12, 1908 in Hillsboro, WI to George and Mabel (Denzer) Harris. She was raised on the family farm in the Hillsboro area.

Perle worked as a nanny in Minnesota. She met and married William Berdt. They were later divorced. She later married Earl T. Brey. They owned and farmed in the Ontario area. Earl passed away in November 1961. She moved to Sparta in 1963. She then worked at the Morrow Memorial Home until she retired.

Perle was an avid card player, enjoyed dancing, was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the VFW Auxillary, and an honorary member of the Sarah Circle.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Morrow Memorial Home for the care they gave to their mother and to Perle's granddaughter, Tanya Dickman, for her special care.

She is survived by her children, James (Jean) Brey of Lake Mills, WI, Earl G. (Nancy) Brey of Ontario, WI, and Carol (Jay) Buswell of Janesville, WI; step-children, Janice (John) Belsky of Janesville and Clea (the late, Norman) Surbeck of San Jacinto, CA; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Brey, Brad Brey, Justin Brey, Tanya Dickman, Mary Ann Ostrander, Linda Glendon, Elizabeth Brey, Troy Buswell, Ryan Buswell, and Nicole Nickols; 8 step grandchildren, Linda, Ronald, Daniel, Doug, Janet, Verna, Jon, and David; 26 great grandchildren; a sister, Golda Bitzan of Seattle, WA; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl T. Brey; a great grandchild; a step-daughter, Shirley Truesdill; and her brothers and sisters, Zolda Harris, Georgia Jefferies, Burl Harris, and Floyd Harris.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Sparta, with Reverend David Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Rest Cemetery, Ontario.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services.
