Beorge B Ackerman, 88, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Thursday, October 19, 2006, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg. He was born June 10, 1918, in Lewisville, Ohio, a son of the late Benjamin Ackerman and Elsie Hines Ackerman Christman. George was a veteran of the U S Army duriNG World War II. He served under General Dwight Eisenhouwer in the Invadion of Normandy. He worked for Fairmont Foods and retired from Ralph's Market, where he was a cost accountant. George was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Parkersburg for 59yrs. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Vera Wright Ackerman; one son roger Ackerman of Vienna, WV; two grandchildren, Brenda Thompson and husband, Michael, of Mineral Wells, WV and Kevin Ackerman and his wife, Mindy of Vienna, WV; for great-grandchildren, Heather Thompson and Holly, Haley, and Hunter Ackerman; two brothers, Lester Ackerman of Woodsfield, OH and Edward Ackerman of Lewisville, OH; one sister Leota Buss of Apple Creek, OH; a sister-in-law, Alberta Ackerman of Lewisville, OH; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Walter Ackerman; and a daughter-in-law, Judith Ackerman. Funeral services will be 1 pm, Monday, October 23, at Landmark Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2-9 pm Sunday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV and one hour prior to services Monday at the church. American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg, will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
