I am writing this letter to make sure that a friend who died in Nam will never be forgotten. Perhaps you knew of Sgt Erhard "Jimmy" Adams. He was a man who had a future, who had dreams like all of us. He came to Phu Cat Air Base in Viet Nam to fulfill a duty to his country. He gave to his country the ultimate sacrifice

He was a member of a small but proud unit of dog handlers. He had the respect and friendship of all. I remember that he would help any of the new dog handlers to get oriented with their post. We were all in shock when we were told about his death. We had a memorial Mass for him on base. His fellow dog handlers proudly took on the tasks of Servers, Ushers, and the Color Guard.

I think of Jimmy often and think about my loss of a friend, and his family and their loss. May God keep him in our memories. I think him for what he gave to all while he was with us. By Roger Lemery, Sentry Dog Handler, Phu Cat Air Base, Republic of Viet Nam.

Known to most of us at Phu Cat as Eddie, He made the first days in country much easier on us FNG's. Thanks, Chuck Helms.

From someone who cares: This man will not be forgotten. I am spearheading a project for a memorial for our 98 casualties from Cumberland County to be dedicated on Memorial Day. He will be forever missed by family and friends. Fayetteville, NC is a military town of Ft Bragg and Pope Air Force Base and very proud of our military and all Vets. The Late Carolyn Culbreth.
