I am writing this letter to make sure that a friend who died in Nam will never be forgotten. Perhaps you knew of Sgt Erhard "Jimmy" Adams. He was a man who had a future, who had dreams like all of us. He came to Phu Cat Air Base in Viet Nam to fulfill a duty to his country. He gave to his country the ultimate sacrifice
He was a member of a small but proud unit of dog handlers. He had the respect and friendship of all. I remember that he would help any of the new dog handlers to get oriented with their post. We were all in shock when we were told about his death. We had a memorial Mass for him on base. His fellow dog handlers proudly took on the tasks of Servers, Ushers, and the Color Guard.
