Kate Foskey
Mrs. Kate Foskey, 78, Route 2 Glenwood, died in a Glenwood hospital Wednesday afternoon, March 2, after an extended illness. Mrs. Foskey was a native of Wheeler County and was a daughter of the late George Washington Gillis and the late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Dixon Gillis. She was married to the late Charlie Paul Barwick and the late Ezra Foskey. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church near Glenwood. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mackie Lawrence of Glenwood and Mrs. Cheryl Burgess of Vidalia; a step-son, Chester Barwick of Virginia Beach, Va.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Drunell Lindsey of Lyons, Mrs. Ella Mae Fryburger of Augusta, and Mrs. Alma Newsome of Swainsboro; 2 grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 34 step-great-grandchildren.

Services were held in Beulah Baptist Church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, March 4 with the Rev. Luther Gillis, the Rev. Duke Stewart, and the Rev. Ralph Van Norman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, in charge. Pallbearers were Ray Smith, Ralph Edge, Gene Edge, W. L. Graham, Colen Gillis, and Logan Rogers Jr. The honorary escort included Vernon Edge, Emmitt Gills, Charlie Collins, Lewis Foskey Jr., Darwin Evans, N. A. Wynn Jr., Wyman Phillips, Jimmy Phillips and Tilman Graham.
