Katherina Schneider Dascher was also known as Kate. Kate was born in Rheinland, Germany, and emigrated with her parents to America in 1873. According to the Schneider family story, when they arrived in Buffalo County they lived for a time with George Dascher. She was 18 years old when she married George. His wife, Johanna Rieple, had died after her seventh child was nine months old, and he needed help raising his children. His daughter, Magdalena, or Helena as she was known, had passed away when she was only two years old, so Kate would have to be a mother to his remaining six children.

Before she married George, she influenced him to be baptized in the Catholic church. They were married on November 28, 1876, in Waumandee the day after he was baptized.

George and Kate only spoke German in their home. In the twelve years after their marriage, Kate gave birth to eight more children. In 1890 she died at the age of 30 from pneumonia and complications of childbirth when her last child was two months old.

Kate's parents blamed George for her death and believed she had worked too hard and had too many responsibilities caring for so many children. They moved from the area to Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

Katherina was buried in the Montana Ridge Cemetery located on the Upper Montana Ridge in the Town of Montana, Buffalo County.
