Joseph Alexander "Papa Joe" Winters, Sr., 94, of Lexington Park, MD died January 21, 2006 in Bayside Care Center. Born April 21, 1911 in Chaptico, MD he was the son of the late Alexander and Maude Holt Winters. He was the loving husband Blanche Dorsey Winters whom he married in La Plata, MD. She was the loving mother of Yvonne Robinson of Temple Hills, MD, Gladys Estep of Lexington Park, MD, Wilma Estep, James Winters, Sr., William Winters, Sr. and Joseph Douglas all of Mechanicsville, MD and Paul Winters of La Plata, MD. He is survived by 38 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Spears Winters; daughters Agnes Jordan, Loretta Medley, and Barbara Winters; son Joseph Alexander Winters, Jr.; brothers Richard Winters and Dick Winters and sister Mary Winters. Mr. Winters was a life long St. Mary's County resident where he received his education. He was employed as a farmer and horticulturist for Cremona Farm for 63 years.
