Alles Mae Chambers, 2301 W. Monroe St., died at 4:25 a.m. Friday at Clarkston Court Nursing Home.

She was born on July 17, 1904 in Springfield, the daughter of the late William and Agnes Dyer Ormsby. Her husband, Thomas, died in 1968. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Chambers, and one sister, Florence Young.

She was a member of First Christian Church.

Surviving are one granddaughter and one grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ellinger-Kunz and Davis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Clingan officiating. Burial will be in Morrisonville Cemetery.

Aunt Alles was a warm and loving person. She is the sister of Elmer, Florence and Fern.

Personal Note:
Alles' daughter Rita was actually the daughter of Fern. Fern had 4 children: Rita, Robert, Ruth (my mother) and Lorine. My grandmother, Fern had some health issues. Because of this, she "gave" her daughter Rita to sister Alles. I don't know if it was a in-family decision or if there was an official adoption. The 1940 Federal Census shows Rita (Ritta sp.) as their neice. The 1950 Federal Census shows Rita as their daughter. I have a letter from uncle's wife explaining the details.
