Ernest T. Allen, 89, of Salem, passed away Monday, December 11, 2006. Mr. Allen was raised in Hillsville, VA. At the age of 18 he opened his own business, Allen's Radio and repair. He later moved to Stuart, VA and opened Allen Radio and Television Repair while working part time for the Branscomb Theater Group, and serving as a volunteer fireman. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ernestine "Teeny" Fisher; a brother, Ray E. Allen; and a sister, Violet Clay. Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Irene Webb Allen; daughter, Geneva A. Dillman & husband, Billy of Salem; grandchildren, April Atkins & husband, Mike, Denise Fazio & husband, Jeff, Christopher Dillman & wife, Tonia, and Kathy Johnson; greatgrandchildren, Christopher, Logan and Austin, Cameron, Cody, Michaela, and Tristan; brother, Rush G. Allen & wife, Ella Ann of Galax; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Shirley S. & Dr. Sidney Harvey; numerous nieces and nephews; and a devoted caregiver, Lisa Webb. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Peters Creek Church of the Brethren, 5333 Cove Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by Pastor Jack Lowe and Pastor Paris "Pete" Bain. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson Funeral Home.
