Merle D. Wilcox, 83, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, in the William Penn Care Center, Penn Township. He was born Sept. 22, 1919, in East McKeesport, a son of the late Harry A. and Harriet Cowan Wilcox. He was a retired machinist for Universal Welding of Export and was a barber in Murrysville for a number of years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Export, the Shopsmen Local 527 and the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Rittko Wilcox, in 1999; a brother, Robert Wilcox; two sisters, Mildred Colangelo and Lois Grother; and a granddaughter, Tamie Frank. He is survived by two sons, Merle D. ''Pete'' Wilcox and his wife, Judy, of Plum and Harry A. and his wife, Linda, of Somerset; a daughter, Renee Baker and her husband, Russell, of New Kensington; a sister, Ora Mae Louvre of Level Green; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A funeral service wil be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Export, with Pastor Gregory B. Held officiating. EVERYONE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
