∼Billy Cabe was born in North Carolina, lived in Gilmer County, GA and Fannin County, Ga. When Georgia seceded from the Union, Billy enlisted as a Private in Company E, 2nd Georgia Infantry Regiment which soon was sent to Richmond, VA. He participated in the Peninsula Campaign & the Battle of Seven Pines. On July 1st 1862, the last day of the Seven Days Battles, Billy was severely wounded at Malvern Hill and taken to Chimborazo Hospital in nearby Richmond. There he died on July 10th 1862 from his wounds and complications. He was buried that same day in Richmond's Oakwood Cemetery.
