A Good Man Gone
One mile east of Booneville at his home on November the 20th, Isaria Clay departed this life. Bro. Clay was born the 28th day of May, 1848, being more than seventy-five years of age. He embraced a hope in Christ and became a member of the United Baptist Church of the Primitive Order forty-six years ago and lived a very devoted and consistent life and filled the office of deacon in his church. He loved his church. He married in his early life to Miss Martha Ellen Blythe and to this union was born eight children, two sons and six daughters. He is survived by his wife and seven children. The funeral services were conducted on the 21st at his residence by the writer, assisted by the Rev. Mount, pastor of the Booneville Baptist Church, also Rev. Nix, pastor of the Baptist church at Belmont, Miss. Every aid and comfort was shown the bereaved family by the people of the town and community. His remains were laid away in the cemetery at Liberty Church a few miles east of the home. We express our sincere sympathy for the beriefed, especially the dear wife in her declining years. May God bless them. I want to add that the children were all present at the funeral. His pastor, J. S. Sumners.
