David M. Barnard died Jan. 19, 1998, in San Antonio, Texas.
David was born Oct. 27, 1955, in Coulee Dam, attending all 12 years of schooling and graduated from Coulee Dam High School in June 1974. While still in high school he began working full time at the local Safeway. He attended Eastern Washington State College before returning full time with Safeway.
In May 1988 he joined the U.S. Navy, serving our nation in Florida, Virginia, Maine, Alaska, including Sheyma, and many deployments on land and sea. His last duty station was San Antonio, Texas.
Family, church and community activities were important to David. Many free hours were spent volunteering at his son's schools. Soccer, Special Olympics, his enjoyment for running and love of others will long be remembered by all.
He was a member of Parkside Community Church, Anchorage, Alaska, where he continued teaching Sunday school, leading Bible studies and serving his Lord.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diana, and sons Jason and Tyler; parents, Jack and Pat Barnard; grandmother Mamie Barnard of Coulee Dam; brothers Jerry and family of Cheney, and Bill and family of Richland; in-laws Bruce and Joan Sterley of Coulee Dam; sister-in-law, Pat Piccolo and family of Seatons Grove, Wash.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
