Frederick Lee "Fred" Miller was the son of Charles Pleasant Miller & Olivia Franklin "Livie" Blankinship. He was born 3 Feb 1898 in Elizabethtown, Hardin Co, Illinois & died 21 Jun 1965 in Pulaski, Pulaski Co, Illinois.
His parents moved often, following his father's work cutting railroad ties, & by 1910 he was living in New Madrid Co, Missouri, with his parents & his brother Jesse.
In 1915 Fred married his 1st wife Annie Ethel Sharp, who was born in 1899 & died in the influenza epidemic of Nov 1919. She was buried at Wyatt, Mississippi Co, Missouri, but the name of the cemetery is unknown.
After Annie's death, Fred moved his small family to Pulaski so his mother could help care for the children, but unfortunately, his infant son lived only 3 months.
Fred found work in Sandusky with Smith Denfip, the owner of a sawmill, & it was in Sandusky that he met Smith's daughter, Elizabeth "Marie" Denfip, whom he married on 22 Apr 1920. After their marriage, Fred & Marie & the family moved back to Mississippi Co, Missouri, where Fred took up farming.
In 1922 they moved to Tamms, Illinois, where they owned & operated a laundry. Four years later they rented a small farm at Chapel Hill Bottoms, west of Pulaski, & during the insuing years they moved onto larger & larger farms in the area. Finally in 1941, they bought a farm east of Pulaski where they spent the rest of their lives.
Several years earlier, in 1937, Fred & Marie had joined the Mt Pleasant Baptist Church & were faithful members, encouraging others to attend & often providing transportation.
