EDUCATION: Calvin attended David Prouty High School at Spencer, Massachusetts.
MILITARY: Calvin enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII. Calvin was inducted into military service at Fort Devans Massachusetts on February 22, 1943. He entered into active service March 1, 1943. BATTLES AND CAMPAIGNS: Aleutian Island Campaign.
DECORATIONS AND CITATIONS: Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon Battle Star for Aleutian Islands Campaign.
OCCUPATION: Calvin worked most of his life as a Master Mechanic and Welder in the state of California. He worked on construction sites building roads, bridges, dams, and other important works throughout the state. He was a long time member of the Int'l Union of Operating Engineers Local #12. He received his 30 year pin from them in 1989.
FAVORITE HOBBIES: Racing Cars, Flying Airplanes, Camping & Gold Mining, Watching Westerns on TV and Reading Old West Magazines. RACECAR: In his youth Calvin owned a midget racecar which he would race at Westborough Speedway in Massachusetts. After he retired he took up the hobby again for a time. FLYING: Calvin always loved airplanes. He had a pilot's license, and liked to hang out at Flabob Airport with his buddies. CAMPING & GOLD MINING: Calvin loved the outdoors and took his family camping all over the West. He liked to read about the old west in pioneer days, and he took up the hobby of gold mining. After retiring he adopted a black companion Pug dog he named Rambo, and the two of them spent many a month in California's Gold Country on the East Fork of the American River, Gold Mining and basking in the sun.
