Jean was born Wednesday, December 2, 1931 at 3:45 p.m. at the Curtis family home located at 336 Owen Place in the Downtown district of Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Truman Curtis and Lauretta Ruth Jensen.

She married Sheldon Lee Sorenson. They resided at 40 North State Street (100 East) in the Downtown district of Salt Lake City. They had three children: Kathy, Gale, and Gary. Two of them were born five days before her younger brother in the same hospital. They were later divorced. She moved to California and married George Souza. They had four children: George, Linda, Randy, and Paul. George preceded her in death on November 24, 1978. She married Harvey Randall "Randy" Mills on November 3, 1984.

From the 1950s until her death, Jean owned and operated a bar in San Francisco. From the 1950s until 1961, Jean lived in San Francisco, Oakland, and Mountain View. From 1961 until 1983, Jean resided at 39321 Logan Drive in the Centerville district of Fremont. In 1983, she sold the Fremont house and moved to Calaveras County. From 1983 until her death, she resided at 6503 Miller Ranch Road in Mountain Ranch.

Jean passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 1993 at 1:35 p.m. at San Andreas Convalescent Hospital in San Andreas, California of respiratory failure, following a six-month battle with lung cancer. She was sixty-one years old.

Jean was cremated on Tuesday, July 13, 1993 at the San Andreas Memorial Chapel. Her ashes were divided in two. The first half was scattered on the grounds of her home in Mountain Ranch, California and the second half was interred with Jean's second husband George at the Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Hayward, California.
