A former Superior resident, Herman Eilert Bargen, died last Thursday night at the Paseo Nursing Home, Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral services were Tuesday at 3 p.m., at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul D. Theiss of Centennial Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.

The eldest child of John and Minnie Meyer Bargen, he was born March 15, 1909, on a farm near Cadams, Neb. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior.

March 23, 1932, he was united to Meta Mathilda Louise Schleif at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schleif. To this union four children, Duane Bargen of Lincoln, Mrs. Ron Franck (Jana Dee) of Brewer, Maine, Mrs. Larry Brazil (Frances) of Superior, and Bill Bargen, Oroville, Wash., were born.

After living on a farm near Cadams for two years, they moved to Superior. At this time they transferred their membership from Salem Lutheran Church to Centennial Lutheran Church.

The last years of his life he resided in the Kansas City, Mo area.

Preceding him in death were his wife, who died Oct. 5, 1949, his parents and two sisters Frances, who died in infancy and Mrs. Alfred Andersen (Irene).

Survivors include his four children, 18 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one brother, Orval Bargen, Superior, and three sisters Mrs. Alvin Jacobsen (Edna) of Enid, Okla., Mayme Frey of Wichita and Mrs. Glenn Oltmans (Della), Nelson.
