Frank Martinez, 74, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and a resident of Las Vegas, Nev., for the past 34 years, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006.
A former resident of Las Vegas, N.M., Frank was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing in Las Vegas, Nev.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Jose Leon and Rosenda Tapia Martinez and a son, Frank Martinez, Jr. He was also preceded in death by grandmother, Albenita Padilla; brothers, Prudencio and Orlando Martinez; sisters, Idalia and Genevieva Martinez; brother-in-law, Marcelino Chavez; and the mother of his children, Phoebe Fresquez.

He is survived by his wife Faye Martinez of Las Vegas, Nev.; three daughters, Elaine Salazar and husband Sam of Las Vegas, Nev., Yzetta Martinez of Albuquerque, and Michelle Martinez Garcia and husband Robert of Las Vegas, N.M.; three sons, Robert (Wagon) Martinez and Donald Martinez and wife Irene al of Las Vegas, N.M., Mike Martinez of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Jose Leon Martinez Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Sylvia Daniel of Las Vegas, N.M.; and the following grandchildren: Valerie Gallegos and husband Ruben, Angela Garcia and husband Justin, John Romero, Andrea Padilla, Jessie Salazar, Luella, Nicolas, and Donnie Marquez, Steven Martinez and fianc/ Alicia Padilla, Melissa Hubb, Marcos Gomez, Germain Martinez, Melinda Silva and husband Rick, Adrian Esquibel and wife Amanda, Crystal Esquibel and companion Shane Martinez, Anthony Esquibel, Jamesha Gutierrez, and Yzetta Martinez and companion Eddie Ortega, 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was born on Jan. 29, 1931, in Lourdes, N.M. He was a former preacher and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. He retired from construction work as a heavy equipment operator for a mining company and also served in the U. S. Army as a sergeant first class in the Koran Conflict. Frank was a devoted, caring and very outgoing person who enjoyed reading his Bible and sharing his knowledge with all who knew him.

Services will be held at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday.
