Julie worked at a number of different jobs over the years to help put bread on the table for her family: but never anything she would call a career, until about 1978, when she went to work for the National Association of Realtors, working for a good friend who put her in charge of a degree program. This work perfectly suited her, and she pursued it as a career for several years until a management shake-up caught up with her. Shortly after that she began having headaches and was eventually diagnosed as having brain cancer, which ultimately caused her death.
