A woman had just dropped her own child off at school and was making a left turn from Kern Avenue onto Welburn Avenue when she struck Julio with her Ford F-150. He was the second 5-year-old Gilroy boy struck and killed by a car in four months.
Julio is survived by a sister, a brother, and his single mother, Claudia.
Julio loved Legos, and toy dinosaurs, and Transformer toys, which turned from one thing into another. He giggled at cartoons, and played video games.
Gilroy police said that both the mother and Julio had looked both ways before entering the intersection.
