Jacob's death certificate states his birth date as February 1847, father "Sol". 1900 census of Big Island, Marion, Ohio has his birth as Apr 1848.
Son of Solomon Smith and Nancy A. Jones. He married Matilda M. Tackett-Ward 8 Jan 1900 in Marion Co., Ohio. Since he was about 51 at that time, one would think he had been married previously and had children, but the only clue I find of this is on the 1880 census, wherein is recorded that he was married within the year, however there is no clue as to the wife, since he is listed as a servant in the Winner home.
