Summary: As Mr. Andrew H. Fort, of Pemberton, accompanied by his wife, was driving up Main street, to his father-in-law's, Mr. John Brown, on Monday morning, his young horse became frightened at a pile of lumber, a short distance above the Jail, and started off at a furious rate.--Mr. Fort managed him most admirably, until the swingletree broke, when he of course was unable to control him. The horse turned up Broadway, running upon the curbstone, Mr. F. still holding on to him, when the carriage turned over, it is said, two or three times, with Mr. F. and his wife in it. The animal at this point, became detached from the vehicle and ran off. Mrs. Fort, we regret to state, was quite seriously injured, and now lies in a very precarious condition. Mr. F. fortunately escaped with a few bruises. It is a miracle that both were not killed.
