Elizabeth Earline (Brown) Self Bills a longtime resident of Poteau, later moving to Kinta, passed away October 4, 2006 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 85. She was born January 19, 1921 in Calhoun, Oklahoma to Earl and Gladys (Young) Brown and was raised as a coal miner's daughter at Nubbin Ridge. Elizabeth graduated from Bokoshe High School where she was a member of the basketball team.

Called "Sister" by her parents and siblings and "Aunt Sister" by her nieces and nephews, she loved family. Elizabeth worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse until she was 77 years old. She loved fishing, flowers, Atlanta Braves baseball and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Kinta First Baptist Church. Elizabeth always was a talker sometimes adding just a little to make the story more interesting. She always had a smile and cared for others.
She is survived by;

Jimmy Ray Self of Spiro, Oklahoma

Patsy Brooks of Bokoshe, Oklahoma
Two brothers:
Bobby Brown of Carlsbad, New Mexico
George T. Brown of Bokoshe, Oklahoma
Four grandchildren:
David Self of McCurtain, Oklahoma, Danny Self of Stigler, Oklahoma, Amber
Myers of Kinta, Oklahoma, and Heather Howell of Kinta, Oklahoma
Six great grandchildren:
J. T. Self, Taylor Myers, Kelby Self, Abby Myers, Kynadi Self, and Blayze Howell

Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and her special friend, her dog, Prissy

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Gladys Brown; two brothers, Lewis Brown and Earl Brown, Jr; one niece, Pamela Brooks Mann; and one nephew, Donald "Rusty" Brown.
