I initially had been informed that Horace was born in Mineral Wells, Tx. I find that his death certificate states he was born in Greenfield, Weakley Co., Tennessee. In viewing other certificates that pertain to his children, they all state that their father was born in Greenfield, Tn. I believe that this is fact and his parents, Jonathan and Thirzzie moved to Texas after his birth in 1882. Their next child, Arthur Wilson, Horace's brother was born in Mineral Wells in 1884, about 2 years after Horace.
While we were at the Fowler Family Reunion in Mineral Wells, Tx on May 31, 2003, we visited with Littleton "Lit" Edward Fowler. Lit is a nephew of Horace Greeley and says he remembers Horace well. He informed us that Horace and Emma had a boy child that died at a young age and is buried in the Sturdivant Cemetery near Mineral Wells. He said there was only a headstone that reads J.C. Fowler 1912-1916 . We have since learned that this is John Clifton Fowler, the 2nd child of Horace Greeley and Emma Mae Belle.
