I stumbled across Andy Jake Dingus a few days ago. His past is still a mystery. I wonder if he was an orphan or illegitimate and was placed in "the county home" system where he lived with a family (kind of like foster care) and this was the family that abused him. I wonder if Scott County archives has a record of such placements from the 19th century.

In Missouri, he lived in or near Powersite, which is where Charles Marion Dingus lived. I wonder if they had contact with each other.

On one of his WWI forms, he listed David Flanary, a friend, as his next of kin. Was this the Flanary who helped him escape Virginia? Or, was he part of the Flanary family who helped Andy Jake?

Without a birth, marriage, or death certificate that could possibly list his parents' names, the search is stalemated.

So many questions; so little information.
