E. O. Herbold Died At Home Monday Night

E. O. Herbold, 60, prominent Jasper County farmer and 4-H adult leader, died at 6 p. m. Monday, of a heart attack, at his farm home near Colfax.

Mr. Herbold was a lifeling resident of the Colfax Community.

The son of Amos Carl and Jennie Parker Herbold, he was born June 12, 1906 in Jasper County.

He attended Jasper County rural schools, Newton High School and Monmouth College at Monmouth, Ill.

He was married to Janet Lanita Leonard, August 15, 1928 in Des Moines.

Mr. Herbold was a member of the Methodist Church of Colfax, the Farm Bureau and the Sand Hill Grange.

Mr. Herbold, a 4-H leader for many years, served as boy's 4-H committee chairman in Jasper County. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1964 and a brother. Survivors are two sons, Dr. Larry Herbold of Stanton and James Herbold of Rt. 2, Newton; and a grandson, Mark Herbold of Stanton. Also surviving are his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Leonard of Newton; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alan Herbold of Newton and three nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday (today) at the Colfax Methodist Church.

The casket will be closed at 1 p. m. Thursday at the church and will remain closed.

The Rev. Laurence Garrett, minister of the church, will conduct the services.

Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery.
