Margaret Mae "Maggie" Cave was born 10 March 1846 in DeKalb, Alabama.
Maggie was one of four siblings who were the children of James McCullough Cave, SR (1796 -1863) and 2nd spouse, Rebecca Garrett (1810-1855)
After Rebecca's death in 1855, James Cave married 3rd spouse, Francis Sears in November 1856 DeKalb, AL. and prior to 1860, the Cave family moved to Corinth, Tishomingo, MS.
James daughter, "Maggie" Cave married Kinchen Lewter in about 1860 in Tishomingo, MS. Apparently, Maggie and Kinchen returned to Kinchen's former place of residency in Giles County, TN after marriage and prior to 1863.
Prior to 1869, "Maggie" and Kinchen had 3 children born in TN: Eva Lillian "Lilly" (1863-1941), Fannie (1865-1869) and William (1867-1876)

Many details are unknown during the interim period from 1860 to 1869. However, it is documented that Kinchen Lewter had joined and was a member of the Jack Davenport outlaw gang.
AS reported in the newspaper, Memphis Daily Appeal 18 Feb 1869: "Early on Feb 16, at Burnsville, Miss, 3 men lost lives; a band of desperadoes had infested the country around Burnsville (Tishomingo, MS) for some time, ever since the war, under Davenport. The gang had laid a plan to waylay and rob the M&C at Brownsville on Feb 15th and were betrayed and captured.
Two of the men were killed by the KKK : Kinchen Lewter and a man named Charlton. Their bodies were put on display at the railway depot in Burnsville, MS. The body of Kinchen Lewter was later shipped to Athens, AL and turned over to relatives.

Kinchen's widow, "Maggie" Cave Lewter was pregnant at the time and resided with Kinchen's mother, widow Jane "Jincy" Faison Lewter in Giles, TN. Maggie's fourth child, Jesse T, was born August 1869, In Giles, TN, several months after the murder of her father, Kenchin.
Maggie and her children are listed in the August 1870 Dist. 1 Giles, TN census living with her mother-in-law, "Jincy" Lewter.
Conjecture is that Margaret Cave and her two daughters moved from TN to Clark, AR. after the June 1880 Giles, TN census accompanied by the family of her brother in law Matthias Lewter

Although not listed on the 1880 Clark, AR census, Margaret Cave and her two daughters moved to Clark, AR before January of 1881 as evidenced by the marriage of her daughter, Eva "Lilly" Lewter to James Owens January 1881 Clark, AR. "Lilly" 2nd marriage was to Richard Hunter February 1890. Lilly & spouse. Richard Hunter are buried in Davis Cemetery.
Her daughter, Jesse T Lewter married Walter Pendleton Vaden in January 1893. They are also buried in Davis Cemetery.

Maggie had relatives in Clark, AR at the time. They were her half siblings by her mother's (Rebecca Garrett) previous marriage to Thomas Neal Gardner (1790-1836) Maggie had two known half-sisters in Clark, AR by the marriage of Thomas N Gardner and Rebecca Garett: Mary Thomas Gardner Davis (1825 Dallas, AL – 1885 Anderson Clark, AR) and Caroline C Gardner Davis (1829 Dallas, AL – 1858 Anderson, Clark, AR—buried Davis Cemetery)

In June 1884, "Maggie" purchased a lot in the Hardy & Barkman addition subdivision of Arkadelphia, Clark, AR.

In 21 Nov 1884 Clark, AR, Margaret married George W Jones.

On 11 August 1888, Margaret filed for divorce from George Jones. Matthias T Lewter, Margaret's former brother-in-law, gave a deposition in the divorce proceedings of Margaret Cave Lewter Jones, his former sister-in-law, who was abandoned by George W. Jones shortly after their marriage.

On 9 August 1888. Margaret married John Benton Avery (1839-1909)
Margaret Cave Lewter Jones Avery died 24 April 1904 in Hebron, Clark, AR and is buried in the Davis Cemetery, Vaden, Clark, AR. Her husband, John Benton Avery died 1924 and is buried in the Easley Cemetery, Gurdon, Clark, AR
