Ethel Mae Childress of Columbia, LA passed away, Saturday, February 4, 2006. She was born in Clarks, LA on September 10, 1920.
She is survived by her nephews, Joe Steiner, Jr., and James Henry Steiner.
Ethel was one of three children to Henry and Josephine (Josie) Childress. She served in the Women's Army Corps service during WWII, working in the Intelligence Office as a clerk. Though never married, Ethel was a dedicated family woman taking her parents, sister, nephews and their children into her care. She was a devoted animal lover, skilled still-life artist and an avid traveler who especially liked the beach.
Services were held, Monday, February 6, 2006 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia. Interment followed in Old Bethel Cemetery, west of Clarks.
