Noble woman dies of infirmities Friday morning
Mrs. Rachel Fitz, aged 83 years, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. B. Shaw on 911 South 7th Street Friday morning at 8 o'clock after having been ill over 3 months. Her death was due to infirmities of old age and a heart trouble
Mrs. Fitz, daughter of Spencer and Margaret Lawrence Lehew was born in Muskingum county near Zanesville in 1828 and she spent the greater part of her life there, moving to Coshocton about 4 years ago. She made her home during the last years of her life with her daughter Emma
Mrs. Fitz was a faithful member of the Baptist church and was always an enthusiastic worker. She had acquired a large number of friends through her kindly manner and her excellent character. Mrs. Emma Shaw is the only child that survives her. Her son Jared died in 1882.
Mrs. Fitz had 5 grandchildren and is a survived by 3 of her grandchildren,Marion, Rose and Thomas. Her oldest grandson Marion aged 11 years was left by his Mother to be raised by Rachel and her husband John after his Father Jared died in 1882. Their Mother and her three younger grandchildren moved to Iowa after her son Jared died.
Her grandson John Hager the son of Emma Fitz Hager died in California in 1908 and her grandson Ralph Fitz of Boone, Iowa died a month before his Grandmother, December 4, 1911 in a train accident in Pueblo, Colorado
Funeral services will be conducted at the home on South 7th Street Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. Bridge of the Baptist church will have charge of the services. The body will be taken to Adamsville Monday morning for interment
