Jourdan was a veteran of War of 1812 (fought 3 times) and wars with Indians. He and his brothers were very civic minded. Evenually, Jourdan and most his siblings with their families all made the treck to Texas. Some settled in southeast and south central Texas, but Jourdan and his family settled in Bowie County, Texas. Jourdan and his wife, Rebecca, and many of their family members are buried in Sand Hill Cemetery, Simms, Bowie County, Texas.
