She began performing on stage in 1914 and made her screen debut two years later. Her films include "Der Skandal" (1916), "Sein bester Freund" (1917), "Wilhelm Tell" (1923), "Hedda Gabler" (1924), "Berlin - Alexanderplatz" (1931), "Emil und die Detektive" (1931), "Der Hauptmann von Köpenick" (1931), "Pygmalion" (1935), "Der Herrscher" (1938), "Bismarck" (1940), "Münchhausen" (1943), "Nachtwache" (1949), "Alles für Papa" (1953), "...wie einst Lili Marleen" (1956), "Zwei ahnungslose Engel" (1969) and "Grete Minde" (1977). Haack was married to actor Heinrich Schroth; her daughter Hannelore Schroth as well as her stepson Carl Heinz Schroth also became well-known actors.
