Annabel said she was born early. Her partents made a business trip to Austin. She was born in the J.W. Raines Mansion which was used for a hotel in Austin, TX. It was later restored and she enjoyed making a tour.

She rode horseback to Fairview School, about a mile west of their farm. The family moved to Amarillo and she graduated from Amarillo High.

Annabel worked at White and Kirk (dept. store) for many years. She married her husband Carl William Franz born in Ohio and changed his name from Karl Keefer Franz on June 5, 1931 in her parents home and her uncle Jesse "Jess" Morris played the fiddle. She and Carl bought a small home and built many additions to it.
