A marriage of interest was celebrated Wednesday evening at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with Bishop W.T. Capers performing the ceremony, the contracting parties having been Augustus Albert Altgelt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Altgelt, and Miss Nellie Mae Mitchell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Edward Mitchell of this city.
The church was The church was profusely decorated in white chrysanthemums, the white blossoms having been used on the altar and also to fill the tall vases at the sides of the chancel steps, while a frieze of palms and ferns were placed around the chancel rail. Just previous to the entrance of the bridal party, Miss Marian McCrory sang, 'Oh Perfect Love,' accompanied on the organ by Oscar J. Fox, who played the Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin for the processional.
The bridegroom's attendants, Woodward Altgelt, Dave Woodward and the best man, Charlemain Parke of Austin, entered first, followed by the two bridesmaids, Miss Helen Jersig and Miss Elizabeth Richardson, and the maid of honor, Miss Julia Belle Mitchell, walking singly.
The bride entered, walking with the bridegroom, taking their place, surrounded by the bridal party at the chancel stops, where the nuptial ceremony took place. The bride wore a charming toilette of white georgette, wrought in a criss cross pattern of silver beads. The full skirt of the silver studded georgette was trimmed on either side by a band of ostrich, while the tight-fitting bodice was cut round. Neck and long sleeves of the georgette were made musquitecre. With this was worn a becoming hat of white georgette and chantilly lace trimmed on one side by a cluster of white velvet violets and buds, and at one side was a long streamer of the tulle, which fell to one side. A bridal bouquet of brides' roses and lilies of the valley was carried. White satin slippers and white hose were worn.
Miss Mitchell, the maid of honor, was in turquoise blue georgette with a plaited skirt, over which fell panels of chantilly lace, round neck bodice and short sleeves. With this was worn a picture hat of white lace. The brim was of plaited shell-pink ribbon, and with this was carried an ostrich fan of the turquoise blue, overlaid in pink radiance roses. Miss Elizabeth Richardson wore rose pink georgette fashioned along the same tight bodice and full skirt lines, and the picture hat of lace was trimmed in blue and pink roses. Miss Jersig was in orchid georgette and silver lace and her hat was trimmed in pink roses. Both of the bridesmaids carried Colonial bouquets of pink roses and wore silver slippers.
The Mitchell home was a pretty decoration of white chrysanthemums. The mantel in the living room was banked with the white blossoms and ferns and the table decoration was carried out in the same shades. In the middle of the table was a mound of the white blossoms surrounded by ferns.
Receiving in the living room were Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell and the bridal party and Mrs. Julia Milliard of San Marcos, grandmother of the bride. Pouring coffee and tea in the dining room were Mrs. U.S. Affleck and Mrs. Nellie Poulton, and cutting the pretty cake were Mrs. Rex Cozby and Mrs. W.H. Hearne. The bride's cake was a beautiful confection. The large ring-shaped affair was in Dresden shades. The floral ornamentation was carried out in La France roses, and around the whole was a billowy massing of pink tulle.
The guests included the bridal party, the family connections and a few intimate friends. Later in the evening, Mr. and Mrs. Altfelt left for Galveston, from where they will sail for a stay of three weeks in New York, the bride wearing a becoming suit of dark brown, trimmed in strappings of leather. Mr. and Mrs. Altgelt will return just before Christmas and will be at home in their apartment at 125 West Ashby Place."

Lace scalloped the scoop neckline, circled over the brief sleeves and dipped low into the bodice. Clusters of pleats at the side and back gave fullness to the skirt. A reception was held in the Colonial Room of the Menger Hotel, after which the couple departed for a wedding trip to Galveston."

With this was worn a picture hat of white lace. The brim was of plaited shell-pink ribbon, and with this was carried an ostrich fan of the turquoise blue, overlaid in pink radiance roses. Miss Elizabeth Richardson wore rose pink georgette fashioned along the same tight bodice and full skirt lines, and the picture hat of lace was trimmed in blue and pink roses. Miss Jersig was in orchid georgette and silver lace and her hat was trimmed in pink roses. Both of the bridesmaids carried Colonial bouquets of pink roses and wore silver slippers.
The Mitchell home was a pretty decoration of white chrysanthemums. The mantel in the living room was banked with the white blossoms and ferns and the table decoration was carried out in the same shades. In the middle of the table was a mound of the white blossoms surrounded by ferns.
Receiving in the living room were Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell and the bridal party and Mrs. Julia Milliard of San Marcos, grandmother of the bride. Pouring coffee and tea in the dining room were Mrs. U.S. Affleck and Mrs. Nellie Poulton, and cutting the pretty cake were Mrs. Rex Cozby and Mrs. W.H. Hearne. The bride's cake was a beautiful confection. The large ring-shaped affair was in Dresden shades. The floral ornamentation was carried out in La France roses, and around the whole was a billowy massing of pink tulle.
The guests included the bridal party, the family connections and a few intimate friends. Later in the evening, Mr. and Mrs. Altfelt left for Galveston, from where they will sail for a stay of three weeks in New York, the bride wearing a becoming suit of dark brown, trimmed in strappings of leather. Mr. and Mrs. Altgelt will return just before Christmas and will be at home in their apartment at 125 West Ashby Place."
Nellie gave birth to Mary Elizabeth "Bess" & Augustus Albert, II.
The wedding of their daughter, Mary, to Benjamin Fain on June 9, 1948, was highly celebrated, & numerous articles, too many to include, were published in the San Antonio Light.

In a ceremony at Christ Episcopal church Wednesday evening, Miss Mary Elizabeth Altgelt, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. A.A.Altgelt, became the bride of Benjamin Asbury Fain Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Asbury Fain, Brownwood. Rev. Louis R. Goodrich officiated.
The bride's gown was of muted white bridal satin with a sheer marquisette yoke edged with braid patterned lace. The same lace formed panels on the bodice and gauntlets. Bridal veiling cascaded from a halo band finished with dainty pearl flowers. Her white prayerbook was topped with a white orchid and stephanotis. ... A reception was held at the Oak Hills Country club. The couple left for New Orleans and they will reside in Austin until September when they will move to Brownwood."

The wedding of Mrs. Mary Claire Fetzer and Augustus Albert Altgelt, Jr. took place Saturday in Christ Episcopal Church. The Rev. Samuel Orr Capers and the Rev. Louis R. Goodrich officiated. (The bride iss the daughter of) Dr. and Mrs. William J. Fetzer. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Augustus Albert Altgelt.
Mrs. Keene Ferguson of Houston was matron of honor. Benjamin Asbury Fair Jr. of Fort Worth assisted as best man. The bride wore a dress of blue peau de sole. Lace scalloped the scoop neckline, circled over the brief sleeves and dipped low into the bodice. Clusters of pleats at the side and back gave fullness to the skirt. A reception was held in the Colonial Room of the Menger Hotel, after which the couple departed for a wedding trip to Galveston."
